Speech Pathology
Speech Pathologists aim to maximise your communication and swallowing skills. We promote participation and independence in your daily communication roles such as connecting with friends and family, using technology or engaging in work/study, and also in the safety and enjoyment of eating and drinking.
We acknowledge that each person and family will have a unique experience and will have different needs, priorities and goals. We will work collaboratively with you at any stage of your injury to develop a tailored plan to support you in participating meaningfully in your life and your community.
We can assist with:
- Assessment and management of language, speech and voice
- Social skills training
- Social integration and community connection
- Assessment for and implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) aids
- Communication partner training
- Return to study and work support
- Cognitive rehabilitation and skills retraining
- Oral health and mealtime assessment and management
- Implementing anosmia (loss of sense of smell) strategies.
